How a migration runs
Discovery and planning
We start with your requirements, your goals and your current setup. The plan covers how product data, customer data and integrations will move.
Proof of concept
Before the build, we prove the features you depend on. For Majema in 2020, that meant proving their checkout could be customised on Shopify Plus as it had been on Magento.
Theme and design
We build or customise your Shopify theme, with our designers or with yours.
Data
Products, customers and order history move across to Shopify, and we check that the data arrives intact.
SEO and redirects
We map your old URLs to the new ones with redirects, so customers and search engines following an old link land on the right page.
Integrations
We reconnect the systems your store depends on, such as your ERP and marketing tools, through the Shopify API.
Testing and go-live
We test before launch, including performance testing when you expect peak traffic soon after. We work to a zero-downtime cutover plan, so your store stays open while it moves.
Migrations we have delivered
All four of these brands moved from Magento:
- Christiania Glasmagasin, a Norwegian kitchen and gift retailer, moved from Magento 2 to Shopify Plus three months after signing, just before peak season. In the year after launch, its conversion rate rose 120% and net revenue 61%.
- GaitLine moved five D2C stores from one Magento instance to Shopify Plus in under 12 weeks, live a week before Black Friday 2022. Conversion rose 71% in the first 90 days against the same period on Magento.
